AT&T has started new broadband delivery project named as AirGig. This project will add a new dimension of providing internet to users. They have successfully demonstrated this technique in Labs but practically it will take some time to be in production. Through this technology we could achieve data rates of gigabits per second in rural areas wireless mode.
AT&T has mounted devices atop of electricity polls. It doesn't actually need to tap into the pole's power source nor send signals over the lines. These devices regenerate millimeter wave signals using device antennas. This methodology reduces the cost of wires and fiber optics which saves alot of money.
