Google a search engine giant is getting ready to introduce augmented reality (AR) enabled maps soon. For now this feature is released for handful number of personnel which include developers, testers and some google local guides.
Augmented reality (AR) is an interactive experience of a real-world environment where the objects that reside in the real-world are "augmented" by computer-generated perceptual information.
What does this value to a common user? Maps having this feature enabled can guide people through camera, if person takes wrong path, it would alert and direct user on right path. It would display arrows towards right direction.
Once pointed towards a building, it would present details regarging that particular building. Additionally it will also display images relating to that building.
This would be achieved with the help of Global Positioning System (GPS). This feature is still is in developmental and testing phase and we would soon witness this feature on our smartphones.
This feature will be available for Android as well as iOS users.
