China’s Xinhua, a state run news agency, unveiled world’s first Artificial Intelligent (AI) news anchor. Xinhua is the biggest and most influential media organization in China. Xinhua is the largest news agency in the world in terms of correspondents worldwide.
This AI news anchor delivered his fist news bulletin at Xinhua office. Anchor learns from live videos and is able to work 24 hours a day.
'He' learns from live broadcasting videos by himself and can read texts as naturally as a professional news anchor, the company said in an online statement.
Voice and appearance of this news anchor is modeled on Zhang Zhao, a real anchor with Xinhua. This anchor can read text, mimic facial expressions and demonstrate human mannerisms.
As this is well known fact that news anchors, presenters draw huge amount of salary each month, so this will comfort news agencies in saving money. Xinhua said it is an experiment to lower production costs.
