China will soon be witnessing its first ever Hyperloop tube functional in Chinese southwestern city, Tongren, which will have 10KMs long track. Information was revealed by Hyperloop Transportation Technologies official this Thursday.
Hyperloop technology can match airplane speeds on ground safely. Passengers and cargo capsules can hover through a network of low-pressure tubes between cities and can transform travel time from hours to minutes.
The idea of Hyperloop was hatched by Elon Musk, a business magnate, investor and engineer himself. He is CEO of SpaceX, Tesla and Neuralink. He was ranked 21st on the Forbes list of The World's Most Powerful People in December 2016.
“China leads the world in the amount of high-speed rail constructed by far, and now they are looking for a more efficient high-speed solution in hyperloop,” HyperloopTT chairman Bibop Gresta said in a press release.
HyperloopTT is California based company which has signed contrats not only with China but some other countries who have shown intrust implementing Hyperloop in their regions.
This project will have financing from a public-private partnership, with Tongren directly contributing 50 per cent of the funds.
