Sony Corporation, a Japanese company, famous for smart phones and other electronic products, introduces surprisingly electric car for the first time.
Sony introduced this electric car during the CES Technology Show in Las Vegas. First conceptual car has been introduced by Vision S Program. Right now this car is not commercially available.
This car was developed by Sony along with several other companies including Qualcomm. Sony has not revealed the name of the concept vehicle, but its code was named Safety Cocoon. On road trials were conducted to ensure to achieve the best of quality.
This Concept car has 33 sensors that allow it to use automated driving, 360 reality audio technology, widescreen display and other features.
Details of the vehicle were not disclosed by the company. But it uses Sony imaging and sensing technologies. However, AI, telecommunications and cloud technologies have also been made part of it.
The sensors inside and outside the vehicle are notable for high resolution, HDR CommOS image sensors (for identifying objects and colors on the road) and radar.
In addition, time-of-flight sensors have also been made part of it, So that they can identify people and goods inside and outside the vehicle.
According to the company, it has automatic driving level 2, which means its system can have full control of accelerating, braking and steering.
This car has 4 seats and two 200kW engines which allows it to run at zero to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds. It can run at a maximum speed of 149 miles per hour.
